Wow, I can’t believe the first 2010 GO Ukraine trip is less then two weeks away! There are five CCCC GO Ukraine trips planned for 2010 and, as the first team to land in L’viv, we are hoping to help our Ukrainian partners both show and share Jesus to the people of Ukraine.
Our team has already met several times to define certain goals and objectives; yet, we are open to God using us in ways we cannot even imagine! We’ll be helping our partners with a “Church Has Left The Building” type project, assisting our partners with clean-up, painting and light construction projects both around the recent Trinity Church, church plant and near where the small groups meet. So, there are many items we’ll need to take in support of this trip!
Specifically, our team is looking for individuals and small groups that desire to both pray for and support our team’s efforts and preparation. Your interest in doing so is greatly appreciated! I pray that through you and/or your group’s participation in this GO Op, God will grow you spiritually, and give you a heart for the partnership we have with the people of Ukraine.
Below, you will find a list of items that we are currently collecting for our trip. Initially, we looked to our partners in Ukraine to give us some ideas of things we could bring to not only help with the service projects we’ll undertake while there, but also items that could help them in the performance of both their Sunday services and the church small groups.
Laura Luett, will be in charge of coordinating all of the gathering and packing. Please direct your correspondence to her at 281-788-0587 or by email at laura_noelle@yahoo.com, regarding any items of support from this list, to ensure we do not perform duplicate work or gather duplicate items.
Here is what we need:
- Keyboard
- Mixer (8 Channels)
- Amplifier
- Shaker (musical ones with handles)
- Basketball rings (with net) – Qty. 2
- Cordless drill/ Screwdriver
- Hand tool sets – Qty. 2, maybe 3
- Work gloves
- Vintage or Sports T-shirts
- Baseball hats
- Hacky sacks, Frisbees, Kites.
- Office supplies/ Printer paper.
- Art supplies
- Coffee-maker, Filters.
- Board games & Playing cards
We will periodically update this list, regarding additions or deletions. But in addition to any donations please begin to pray now for all of our team: Chris Nelson (team leader), Tricia Pena, Andy Restivo, Chuck Gussler Jr., Laura Luett and me, Jerry Jones. Besides Chris and myself, none of the others on our team have ever been on a global mission trip, and I am excited to see how each of them is used, lifted up, and spiritually-enriched from stepping out and sharing the Gospel on foreign soil.
Also, we will be holding an evening of prayer on Wednesday, April 28th so please look for additional information on that in the near future. If you have any questions, please contact Chris Nelson or Laura Luett.
Thank you so much for your support and prayers! I look forward to watching God work both through us and in us as our team prepares for this mission.

Yikes! I can’t believe we’ll be leaving in just 8 short days! So hard to believe it’s been almost 2 years since i last saw our Ukrainian peeps, and stepped out globally in the name of Jesus!
It’s different this time around, yet the same in a few ways. Different because…on this team…we take 4 others that have never had the chance to ” GO Global” or been to Ukraine. I can’t wait to see the country and it’s people, through their eyes. How God uses them, excites them and brings them back with an incredible fire for stepping out in the mission field that is God’s backyard. The trip is also different because our team is smaller. Instead of 19 of us; there are but just 6. I find myself curious as to how God will united and energize our small band of Christ-lovers.
The trip is the same as two years ago, in that i feel “unprepared” or,somehow, “spiritually lacking” to perform at optimum level on this trip. Distractions here at home, more real estate business and a sort of ” self-doubt” have all served to make me a little unsettled. Like last year, i understand ” where this comes from”, and the need to dig deep, understand the source, and…as i often repeat to myself “take it to the cross”.
God is awesome, and i’m headed out to collect some things for the trip. If the reader has ever thought about signing up for a GO Global or GO Local mission trip, i say “go for it”! While there are similiarities and differences to experiencing a mission trip the second time around, there’s no feeling like preparing for, going on, and coming back from a missional experience.
I can’t wait to see what God does with me next!!
